Frank Auerbach

Frank Auerbach was born in Germany but made his name in London. Auerbach’s imagery often focuses on a single model or his north London surroundings. His rare but carefully considered etchings brim with power and creative tension. Two of the Auerbach etchings in this exhibition [Ruth I and Ruth II] have entered the collection of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Auerbach is being honored by a major retrospective at the Royal Academy of Arts in London this autumn. The etching he has created to mark the event will be included in this exhibition. His work is in major institutions worldwide.
