Male figure, with a hovering bird
Pen
and brown ink and bodycolor over pencil on blue paper
c.1827-29
3-1/4 x 1-3/8 inches
| This drawing could relate to Richmond's 1827 etching The Fatal Bellman, which has a similar figure in a landscape with a hovering owl. The subject might also represent Prometheus, the giver of fire. At any rate, the drawing shows Richmond still under the influence of the visionary artist William Blake, Richmond's mentor. |
