C. DAWN DAVIS
Plus a few classics
Atlanta artist C. Dawn Davis is a born storyteller. Her highly personal narrative art has earned a large following, both here and elsewhere. Over fifteen years ago, Atlanta critic Jerry Cullum praised Davis, whom he described as “a complex allegorist,” for her work’s “breathtaking beauty.” Dawn, herself, says that the rich Southern tradition of storytelling, particularly Southern Gothic storytelling, is in her blood.
Davis’s work fluently combines elements of surrealism, fantasy art, Victorian photography, Symbolist painting, and Hollywood baroque to tell stories uniquely her own. In entering the world of her imagination, viewers are invited and to create narratives of their own.
