Following a career as a teacher and guidance counsellor, Geraldine Gillingham returned to her true passion, painting. For Geraldine, painting is an intuitive process. She lays down marks in a variety of media—charcoal, pastels, crayon, ink; she follows with layers of acrylic paint that is applied, removed re-applied, and manipulated, until she finds the balance of organically developed form and saturated color. Her work is constantly evolving, inspired and influenced by her surroundings, nature, and memories of her childhood in Newfoundland. Her work is in private collections throughout Canada, US and West Indies.
