Grace Short

was born in Italy and raised in southern Ontario. Her early paintings were landscapes deeply influenced by Canada’s iconic Group of Seven. As her sensibilities developed and matured, she began adding different media to her work, which gradually moved into abstraction.  Her experimentation with latex paint applied in layers enabled her to create depth. Selective peeling back and abrading of the layers added a sense of surprise, revealing the “history” lying beneath.  Grace likes to experiment with new materials, seeking a sense of peace through randomly occurring structure. The artist and her family divide their time between Canada and Palm Desert, California.
